If graphic design were a dance…

It would be “break dancing”.

If graphic design were a dance…Break dancing is all about the expression of ones artistic abilities. From the apparel, to the graffiti, to the MAD style these hip-hoppers display on the streets. It’s a perfect match.

I guess it’s easy for me to say. I once ruled the streets of Akron, OH in the early 80’s with my white-boy style and flair. It was the best times of my life. Funny thing, it was totally preparing me for graphic design. From color concepts and coordination of my b-bop garb, to the “tags” I use to spray all over town. From head to toe, it was all about design.

I’ve recently been re-infatuated with this phenomena. I purchased a new pair of suede leather PUMA sneaks. And religiously watch MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew”. They actually do a pretty good production of the show. Outside of Mario Lopez’s “corny” comments every five minuets. The logos they create for these crews are very tight. And the outfits are phat and totally creative.

Every now then I still have the urge to get out there and lay my windmill down. Especially after a few drinks at company parties. Hey, I’m in my late thirties…but I can still throw down!
