Love Is the Killer App : How to Win Friends and Inspire Colleagues
by Tim Sanders

designdump Editorial Review
This was a great audio book to listen to on the way to work. I happened upon it by chance at the local library. But I would recommend it to anyone who works in an office setting, particularly a larger setting and wants to get noticed and be that go-to-guy. Tim is very easy to listen to, and has a great inspirational tone. He talks about how to become a "Love cat". Which may sound weird at first, but after listening to the first 20 minutes, you'll get what he's talking about. He talks about how the "biz" world has changed from the old school. And how we must adapt to the new philosophy's of biz world.
Tim talks about how to be compassionate. How to extend your network. And most importantly, how to share your knowledge. Tim's book has actually inspired me to become a "Love cat". And to publish this website so others can join in on the "Love" of learning and building that network of knowledge.
This book definitely gets my vote! Worth the money and the time. Only 4 CD's. For those of you with long commutes to work like myself, less than one week.
Spread the LOVE. Be a "LOVE CAT!"
Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't
by Jim Collins

Amazon Editorial Review
Five years ago, Jim Collins asked the question, "Can a good company become a great company and if so, how?" In Good to Great Collins, the author of Built to Last, concludes that it is possible, but finds there are no silver bullets. Collins and his team of researchers began their quest by sorting through a list of 1,435 companies, looking for those that made substantial improvements in their performance over time. They finally settled on 11--including Fannie Mae, Gillette, Walgreens, and Wells Fargo--and discovered common traits that challenged many of the conventional notions of corporate success. Making the transition from good to great doesn't require a high-profile CEO, the latest technology, innovative change management, or even a fine-tuned business strategy. At the heart of those rare and truly great companies was a corporate culture that rigorously found and promoted disciplined people to think and act in a disciplined manner. Peppered with dozens of stories and examples from the great and not so great, the book offers a well-reasoned road map to excellence that any organization would do well to consider. Like Built to Last, Good to Great is one of those books that managers and CEOs will be reading and rereading for years to come. --Harry C. Edwards
Built to Last : Successful Habits of Visionary Companies
by Jim Collins, Jerry I. Porras

Amazon Editorial Review
Drawing upon a six-year research project at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, James C. Collins and Jerry I. Porras took eighteen truly exceptional and long-lasting companies and studied each in direct comparison to one of its top competitors. They examined the companies from their very beginnings to the present day -- as start-ups, as midsize companies, and as large corporations. Throughout, the authors asked: "What makes the truly exceptional companies different from the comparison companies and what were the common practices these enduringly great companies followed throughout their history?"
Filled with hundreds of specific examples and organized into a coherent framework of practical concepts that can be applied by managers and entrepreneurs at all levels, Built to Last provides a master blueprint for building organizations that will prosper long into the 21st century and beyond.
